Milky Way Bakery is an online ordering app for a local bakery. To build rapport with customers, the app shares stories about the bakery and bread while providing a user-friendly ordering experience.
I conducted four user interviews with customers who visit bakeries regularly. By asking about their habits and thoughts on ordering apps, I realized how frustrated they are for not being able to pick up their order on time.
Based on my research, I have discovered that users often require additional reminders after setting their pickup time since the bakery may not have orders ready on time during peak hours. Therefore, implementing a second prompt can improve efficiency and punctuality, ultimately reducing the risk of losing customers.
I opted for a vertical menu display and incorporated a news section to promote stories. The Favorite feature allows users to save their regular items for future purchases. Additionally, they can activate the Pick-up Notice to receive updates about their orders.
I invited three users to participate in an unmoderated usability test. I designed a UX research plan and recorded a sample video. During the testing process, I discovered some bugs, such as issues with time selection. I changed the time picker option from scrolling to selecting, which is more intuitive. I also made some design adjustments to enhance the overall user experience.
It was my first UX project. I gained a better understanding of UX design by analyzing, brainstorming, implementing, and reflecting on my work. I feel inspired and motivated to continue exploring and growing in future projects.
